This privacy policy is applicable to tomfarrell.org and sewingwithtom.com ("the web site(s)").

Web server logs

The web site(s)'s web server(s) collect certain information with each page or image you view on the web site(s). This is an industry standard practice and the information collected conforms to industry norms. The information collected includes your computer's internet address number ("IP number") and may or may not include your computer's internet name (domain name and/or specific workstation name), the date, the time, and the names and locations of specific page(s) or image(s) requested by your computer. The information collected does not include any personally identifiable information about you unless you deliberately made it do so, such as by configuring your computer's name to match your name. The information collected is analyzed in aggregate to determine general trends about usage of the web site(s), such as total number of users per month or per day, which sections of the web site(s) are most popular, and what parts of the earth contain the most people interested in the web site(s). This aggregate usage does not relate to you personally and the resulting data can not be correlated specifically to you. The aggregate data is prepared and analyzed by Google Analytics.

Email

Several pages on the web site(s) offer the ability to send email to the site owner by filling in a form which is submitted to the web site's server, which emails the information you provide in a non-secure manner to the site owner. All information you provide on the form will be sent via non-secure email. It may be be kept by the recipient(s) for future reference, forwarded to third parties for comment, or replied to. It is my policy never to send unsolicited commercial email, or to sell my mailing list(s) to any third parties for any reason.

User accounts

The web sites do presently or will soon offer the ability to sign up for a user account on the web site(s) which you are/will be able to use to access personalized services. In order to obtain a user account, you will be asked to provide certain information about yourself. This information will not include any financial information such as credit card or bank account numbers, or confidential personal information such as your social security number. The information you provide will be used for the purposes specified to you on one or more web pages which you will be able to view before you submit the information. It may also be used to communicate with you via any of the methods of communication for which you have provided contact information. Such communication may include mass communication such as bulk email if the service you signed up for includes such communication and you specifically requested it ("opt-in"), or if it is necessary to communicate with all registered users or some subset of registered users to provide information which may be necessary for your continued use of the site, including but not limited to changes of the site's web address (URL). Another potential use of the information you provide could be an individual personal communication about your user account or about other information submitted to the site by you through the use of your user account.

Information you provide will also be analyzed in aggregate to determine general trends about usage of the web site(s), such as what geographic regions have the most registered users or which topics on the web site are most popular. This aggregate usage does not relate to you personally and the resulting data can not be correlated specifically to you.

Comments

Through the use of a user account, you may be able to submit comments about various topics through the use of the web site(s), separately from forms which state that they will be used to send email. Comments you submit will be posted on the web site and available to be viewed by arbitrary members of the general public unless explicitly stated otherwise in advance by the web site(s) on the web form you use to submit them. Such comments will also include a unique identifier which will relate them to your user account, which may or may not be your actual name, according to the choices you made during the user account signup process.

Data storage

Data which you submit to or through the web site(s) will be stored in a manner which employs no unsually strong data security methods. The nature of the data collected and stored by the web site(s) is not considered by the owner to be particularly private or valuable, and therefore no unusual precautions shall be taken to protect it. You are expected to consider what information you are submitting to the web site(s) and choose not to submit any information you consider to be private.

Third party web sites

In several locations on the web site(s), links are provided to third party web sites. Thomas Farrell is not responsible for the policies or behavior of any third parties. You are responsible for determining the privacy policies of third party web sites if you are interested.

Some pages on the web site(s) include links to cafepress.com or cafeshops.com. If you purchase anything from the web shops I have set up on these two web sites, I may be provided with a minimal amount of personally identifiable information about you, specifically including your name, city, US state or region, and nation. I don't use this information for anything.

Affiliates

Advertising appearing on pages on the web site(s) may be provided by Google.com, Amazon.com, or other third party affiliate organizations. These organizations are not bound by this privacy policy. You are responsible for determining the privacy policies of these affiliates if you are interested.

Some affiliates will use uniquely identifiable information stored on your computer (a "cookie") to track your usage of web sites with which they are affiliated. Such information is frequently used in aggregate to determine generalized data about web usage. This web site does not offer any method for you to turn off this behavior. However, most web browsers offer methods by which you may choose to disable the use of cookies, or to delete such cookies as are already stored on your computer so that no further tracking can take place. To determine if these methods are available for your use or how to use them, check your browser's configuration ("preference") screens or your software's documentation.

Some affiliates are also able to determine if you click on an advertisement appearing on the web site(s), and may obtain certain information about your computer, including the information listed in the section "web server logs" above. Affiliates provide aggregate data about usage of their affiliate content to me for my use in determining such information as which features of the web site are most popular and which generate the most revenue. Such information provided to me by the affiliates does not include personally identifiable information about you.

Other third parties

Other parties involved in your use of the web site(s), such as your Internet service provider, may have privacy policies which may affect your use of the web site(s). You are responsible for determining the privacy policies of these other third parties if you are interested.
