" You want things real bad, but you have to wait sometimes, and be patient. I also learned how to be a better first baseman."
The most important thing Govanni says he has learned at camp is patience. But that hasn't slowed his ambitions. Govanni is a hitter. A big hitter.
"When I grow up I want to play for the Oakland A's," says Govanni, who is still wearing his batters helmet, which he is reluctant to take off.
His favorite place on the diamond is over the plate with a bat, but when his team takes the field Govanni will casually acknowledge that he likes to play shortstop because he's got " the quickness."
Govanni has lots of friends at the YMCA and loves when they go on field trips during the summer.
