Since 1995 the Athlete Training Assistance Program (ATAP) has helped 32 UPS employee-athletes pursue their Olympic dreams. Of those 32, 3 have made it to the Olympic Games.

1996 Atlanta Olympic Games

During the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA in 1996 two ATAP athletes, Eugene Swift of the U.S. and Peter Gabrielsson of Sweden, successfully competed for their country's Olympic Teams.

Eugene, who is pictured to the right, placed 6th in the 110m hurdles. He cites the Opening Ceremony as one of his favorite moments. The roar of the crowd and the sight of a stadium full of the world's finest athletes is a moment he will never forget, he says.

Nagano Olympic Winter Games
One UPS employee-athlete, Peter Kolotouros, attempted to make the Greek Track Team in 1996 to compete in the Atlanta Olympic Games. Though he did not attend the Summer Games, he did later go on to compete for Greece at the Nagano Winter Games in 1998. Peter was a member of the Greek four-man Bobsleigh Team.
