Tongula Givens

May 25, 2000, Joplin, Missouri. A killer day in the weight room. A long day at the running track. A hard day at UPS. All in the same day. Tongula Givens can summon her energy on demand. When there's nothing left to give, she ignores it, and pushes through her walls anyway.

Explore Tongula's average day on this page. And read more about her on her portrait page.

9:30 a.m. "Nothing he says will be news to me. 'T', he'll say, 'you've got to hold on to that second phase.'"

10:30 a.m. "Coach, he usually does enough worrying for both of us."

12:30 p.m. "I lived through another hard practice. My reward? Carbs! Protein! Carbs! And real lemonade."

1:00 p.m. "I smell like sweat, gas and dust."

2:00 p.m. "Today I jumped over hurdle after hurdle, over & over. Then I moved on to the sand drill. Then my coach had me do bleacher runs. Then cones and boxes. HELLO. Do I look like super woman?"

8:00 p.m. "Yes, I still had to fuel trucks."
