Michael Sanchez
Currently ranked among the Top 10 among U.S. Taekwondo athletes in the heavyweight division, Michael Sanchez
has studied the sport for 17 years. He began training seriously in 1992 under the guidance of Koang Woong Kim,
a traditional Korean master. Sanchez is the reigning Illinois State Champion, a title he also held in 1997.
He was the 1996 U.S. National Championship bronze medallist. Additionally, Sanchez medaled in the
Wisconsin State Championship, finishing third in 1996 and second in 1995. Sanchez, 30, is training currently
with two-time silver medallist Juan Miguel Moreno.
