Louisa Jenkins
With a background as a premier road cyclist, Louisa Jenkins has changed gears to mountain biking in her quest to
compete for the U.S. in Sydney. Jenkins began cycling seriously in 1988 while attending San Diego State University.
Only four years later she gained international acclaim as the top U.S. road race competitor in
the 1992 Tour de France Feminine, finishing 8th overall. The following year she was ninth. In 1997 Jenkins won
the U.S. National Road Race Championships.
She now concentrates on mountain bike racing, but her talent and diversity give her the opportunity
to make either cycling team for the Sydney Olympic Games.
